About the film
Bruno (Laurent Lucas, In My Skin, Work Hard, Play Hard) is a contemporary musician who works on electro-acoustic and electronic sounds, and seems to live only for his research in music. He composes electronic music with his friend Noël, and is so dedicated to his work that it seems as if he is trying to organize the chaos of the background noise in life that surrounds him. His relation to the world, his way of life, his meetings all happen in a context that is intimately linked to the sounds around him. Bruno listens, records and composes in response to his work, but he will soon face a crisis which will be confused with his musical experience, the "invisibles" of this film. As Bruno is about to sign a contract with a producer, he falls in love with a woman's voice (Lisa) heard over the telephone. They meet at night, in a hotel, in total darkness. After a few encounters, Lisa disappears. Obsessed with these brief encounters, Bruno starts looking for her through sound elements: voices, humming and whispers. At the core of The Invisibles, we find the obsessive search of a musician for an enigmatic woman. This is a remarkable feature debut from former Cahiers du Cinema editor Thierry Jousse.
