Synopsis:
First Portuguese film that addresses head-on the memory of the colonial war, evoking several turning points in Portuguese history, "Non" is a film that combines reflection on the fate of a country whose people always wanted to go further, and that after 1974 sees restored to original boundaries. A film with a unique spectacular dimension, as exemplified by the reconstitution of the battle of Alcácer-Quibir.
Portrayals of several great and singular events in the history of Portugal, which are evoked by a platoon of soldiers in the last years of the colonial war, "Non" is a remarkable and very personal reflection of Manoel de Oliveira on the identity and fate of Portuguese people.
