Dick "Dusty" Weston (Bill Williams) is a brash, womanizing professional motorcycle racer, who has been known to cheat his way to a victory. He and clean-cut engineer Chris Rhodes (Steve Flagg) both work for the Barton Motorcycle Company. Enter Eve Drake (Carla Balenda), a beautiful and opinionated newspaper reporter who gets a "crash course" in the rough-and-tumble world of motorcycle racing. Before long, Weston and Rhodes are at odds, the Barton company faces bankruptcy, and Eve must decide which man she truly loves. Throughout it all, you'll thrill to exciting footage of authentic flat-track and TT racing action, featuring dozens of vintage British and American bikes. Robert Armstrong (King Kong) stars as the motorcycle company boss. Also interesting to note: Howard Hughes' penchant for having "busty" women in his films is made more than obvious with cameras and women placed at strategic angles to fully accentuate the female bystanders shapes during crowd / spectator scenes.

Synopsis

Despite Anne's explanation that Christian is now married to another woman and simply dropped by to talk, François becomes jealous. He starts spying on Christian in order to find out if his rival secretly sees Anne. Though François sees Christian meeting a different woman, he keeps following the pair. His pursuit leads him to a park where he meets up with a vivacious teenage girl named Lucie (Anne-Laure Meury), who becomes curious about his motives and agrees to help him in his detection.

A gal group with spunk, singing chops and a whole lot of personal crises provides a study in artistic survival in Tata Amaral's intimately crafted "Antonia." Something of a distaff companion to Brazilian megahit "Two Sons of Francisco" -- but more authentically rooted in working-class struggle -- pic's depiction of rising above is less a candy-coated inspirational pill and more a piece of solid dramatic fiction. Good local B.O. prospects and classy fest invites are assured.
Letters by singer Barbarah (Leilah Moreno) to group partner Preta (Negra Li) serve as a framing device for Roberto Moreira and Amaral's script, establishing the two characters' dreams of fame as part of a quartet named Antonia. Foursome is rounded off with Mayah (Quelynah) and Lena (Cindy), first seen reduced to a backup role in a male-dominated rap group.

Synopsis:

Plot/Review:

A couple arrive at a run down diner in the middle of the Arizona desert. Jean (Cloris Leachman) makes a brief bathroom visit and is left feeling vulnerable when her tetchy husband (Dabney Coleman) suddenly disappears. The rough looking locals (Ross Martin and Ned Beatty) are unhelpful and increasingly malevolent. Time is marching on and even the police seem unable to help. This is the nerve-wracking premise of ABC TV movie of the week, Dying Room Only (1973).

A prototype for later thrillers such as The Vanishing (1993) and Breakdown (1997), Dying Room Only was penned by suspense master Richard Matheson (Duel). The performances match the quality of the script as mounting desperation gives way to outright panic. Well directed, well executed, Dying Room Only is a standout gem of the TV movie canon.

Wang Bing’s film, so well composed of long takes shot close to the subjects, shows the painstaking work of drivers who make their living hauling and selling coal. Every piece of coal, every five yuans make a difference, so they have to haggle and look out for manipulations – they cannot get cheated and have to cheat others. Those are the rules of the game, where someone has to lose. Along the way, they also have to handle corrupt police and minor attempts at blackmail.
